[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) received a donation of winter supplies for low-income residents from the Kiturami Welfare Foundation (CEO Kim Mi-hye) at the mayor's office on the morning of the 26th.
The donated items included 100 blankets and 50 carbon mats, which will be distributed to low-income households such as elderly living alone and basic livelihood security recipients in the area.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, "I sincerely thank you for your unwavering love for the local community and your warm support," adding, "We will work harder to ensure that our neighbors in need can spend this winter more warmly."
The Kiturami Welfare Foundation also donated winter supplies such as blankets and electric mats last year to help low-income residents have a warm winter. The total amount of donations and goods contributed so far amounts to about 130 million won.
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) held a ‘New Appointment Ceremony for Administrative Staff Related to COVID-19 Work’ at the Gonggam Planning Office of Yangcheon-gu Office at 10 a.m. on the 26th.
The 15 newly appointed administrative officials were all assigned to health centers to support COVID-19 response tasks such as epidemiological investigations.
Mayor Kim Soo-young of Yangcheon-gu said, "I sincerely welcome you as part of the Yangcheon-gu family. Given the very serious situation due to COVID-19, I hope you will learn well from senior officials' know-how and perform COVID-19 response tasks for the safety of residents."
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the escalator at Exit 9 of Nowon Station at 11 a.m. on the 26th.
The ceremony was held to commemorate the construction project investing 3.9 billion won at Exit 9 of Nowon Station, which involves demolishing two existing elevators and installing one 21-passenger elevator running from the first to the third floor above ground, as well as four escalators between the first and second floors and the second and third floors. The construction is scheduled to be completed by December 2022.
The district has been gradually expanding the installation of elevator and escalator facilities at 20 subway stations since 2019 to improve convenience for public transportation users.
The event was attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok, Chairperson Choi Yoon-nam of the district council, and others, proceeding with a construction progress report, commemorative speeches, ribbon-cutting, and photo sessions.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu said, "Exit 9 of Nowon Station is located across from the ‘Culture Street’ and is one of the busiest places for subway users. The installation of elevator and escalator facilities is expected to greatly improve transportation convenience," adding, "We will continue to strive to expand the installation of such facilities so that residents using the subway do not experience any inconvenience."
