[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that it will operate the '2021 Local Agricultural Products Farmer Direct Market' for three days from November 28 to 30 in the parking lot in front of the Gwangyang Horticultural Agricultural Cooperative Local Food store, hosted and organized by the Korea Agricultural Managers Association Gwangyang City Federation (President Lee Gi-wook), Korea Women Farmers Association Gwangyang City Federation (President Do Mi-hwa), and Gwangyang City Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Association (President Park Kyung-mi).
The event is operated in the form of a direct transaction market where local farmers sell agricultural products they produce directly to consumers, inducing income increase for producers through promoting agricultural product consumption, and providing consumers with more affordable and fresh agricultural products in a stable manner.
At the direct transaction market, local agricultural products such as lettuce, zucchini, chestnuts, persimmons, dried persimmons, alstroemeria, and chili peppers will be sold.
Kim Jin-sik, Director of the Agricultural Support Division, said, "This direct transaction market is held to overcome the sluggish sales of agricultural products caused by COVID-19 and to promote the consumption of local agricultural products," and added, "We ask citizens to actively use the market so that it can establish itself as a place where local farmers and citizens continuously coexist."
