Support for the Operation of the Jeonju Daesaseupnori National Competition... Research and Investigation for Intangible Cultural Heritage Registration Also Conducted
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] The Jeonju Daesaseupcheong, which will preserve and inherit the history and tradition of Jeonju Daesaseupnori, has officially opened.
On the 25th, Jeonju City held the opening ceremony of 'Jeonju Daesaseupcheong' at Jeonju Daesaseupcheong in Hanok Village, attended by Kim Seung-su, Mayor of Jeonju, Kang Dong-hwa, Chairman of Jeonju City Council, Song Jae-young, Chairman of the Jeonju Daesaseupnori Preservation Association, and others.
Jeonju Daesaseupcheong, established in May to preserve and inherit the history and tradition of Jeonju Daesaseupnori, had its opening ceremony postponed due to the impact of COVID-19 and was held belatedly following the transition to phased daily recovery.
Jeonju Daesaseupcheong was built as a single-story building with a floor area of 486㎡ on the site of the existing Jeonju Sori Culture Center (1315㎡), equipped with △Daecheongmaru △Sori Madang (accommodating over 150 people) △Oh Jeong-sook Exhibition Hall △four practice rooms △a pond pavilion (a resting place for tourists), among others.
Currently, Daesaseupcheong is operating an archiving TF team focused on collecting and exhibiting Jeonju Daesaseupnori materials for preservation and management, and is carrying out the Jeonju Daesaseup Exhibition Hall construction project.
Additionally, various contents that allow people to see, hear, and feel the Daesaseup culture, such as regular Saturday performances, special planned performances, and Jeonju Daesaseup experience programs, are also being operated.
In the future, Daesaseupcheong plans to support the operation of the Jeonju Daesaseupnori National Competition, continue research and investigation activities for the registration of Jeonju Daesaseupnori as an intangible cultural asset, and strive to discover cultural contents that both local residents and tourists can enjoy.
