Jangseong Police Station Presents Appreciation Plaque to Nonghyup Employees for Voice Phishing Prevention
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong Police Station (Chief Bae Seung-gwan) announced on the 25th that on the 24th, it presented a letter of appreciation to an employee of B Nonghyup who contributed to preventing telephone financial fraud by impersonating Bank A and inducing a low-interest refinancing loan (21.6 million KRW) in the police chief's office.
The B Nonghyup employee sensed suspicion from the victim's impatient tone and behavior when requesting a cash withdrawal and asked about the usage. Upon hearing that "to switch an existing loan to a low interest rate, the loan must be repaid first," the employee immediately suspected a voice phishing crime, persuaded the victim, and promptly reported it to the police, thereby preventing the voice phishing crime in advance.
Chief Bae Seung-gwan said, "I deeply appreciate the employee who made a great contribution to preventing telephone financial fraud through careful observation and attention to customers," and added, "I hope we maintain an organic cooperative system with financial institutions and work together to eradicate telephone financial fraud."
Meanwhile, Jangseong Police Station is operating this month as a 'Voice Phishing Damage Prevention Intensive Promotion Period,' conducting large-scale promotional activities such as advertising on the Yellow Gate large sculpture, distributing 40,000 leaflets, and promoting village broadcasts using disaster broadcasting equipment in the jurisdiction.
