Jinju City Conducts Conflict of Interest Prevention Act Training Inviting Experts from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 23rd that it invited the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to conduct an education session on the ‘Act on the Prevention of Conflict of Interest for Public Officials’ for about 100 employees, including department heads and branch chiefs.
Recently, the government enacted the Act on the Prevention of Conflict of Interest, which prohibits the use of job-related information, expands property registration for public officials in real estate-related departments, and demands not only job competence but also more fair and honest job performance from public officials.
Accordingly, the city invited Kim Hyung-guk, Head of the Civil Complaints Reporting and Review Division at the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, as an instructor to provide education focused on cases of conflict of interest situations that public officials may encounter during their duties, along with explanations on ▲the significance of enacting the Act on the Prevention of Conflict of Interest ▲the 10 behavioral standards public officials must comply with ▲reporting violations and sanctions.
Deputy Mayor Shin Jong-woo urged, “Before the law takes effect on May 19 next year, please make efforts to prevent conflict of interest situations that may arise during job performance through sufficient prior education, and for all employees to become a trusted Jinju City that meets citizens’ standards of integrity.”

Meanwhile, the city conducted 12 sessions of integrity education for about 800 public officials at grade 7 and below in the first half of this year, and is working hard to create an atmosphere of integrity and establish a culture of integrity by conducting 10 sessions of integrity education for about 500 grade 6 public officials, including team leaders, in the second half of the year.
