[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, President Kim Ki-seon) AI Graduate School (Dean Professor Kim Jong-won) announced on the 23rd that it, together with Etiphos (CEO Lim Yong-je), Kookmin University (Professor Jung Goo-min), and TenergySoft (CEO Jeon Chun-seok), publicly demonstrated platform technology based on Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), a core element of autonomous vehicle infrastructure.

This technology aims at research and development of a connected platform technology based on V2X capable of responding to external environments such as severe weather, and was conducted in November under the name "2021 Hybrid V2X Demo Day."

At the demonstration site, representatives from four research teams including GIST, Kookmin University, Etiphos, and TenergySoft attended to conduct technology demonstrations and meetings on related topics.

GIST Research Team 1 conducted a demonstration for integrated control of distributed AI-DCU (AI-responsive Data Concentration Unit) and developed SmartX MultiSec to support visibility of complex data traffic transmitted within distributed AI-DCUs and the V2X Car Edge cloud.

The Kookmin University research team demonstrated a V2X-based positioning function software prototype. The vehicle-to-everything communication-based positioning software prototype, jointly developed with Etiphos, can estimate location based on communication when autonomous driving sensors do not operate under weather conditions such as snow or rain, or when GPS performance deteriorates in urban areas.

The Etiphos research team demonstrated Dual Mode V2X equipment capable of operating both the current Korean C-ITS V2X communication standard WAVE method and the latest V2X technology C-V2X method concurrently.

The TenergySoft research team and GIST Research Team 2 jointly demonstrated a constructed environment for HiLS data collection and verification for AI-DCU.

GIST Research Team 2 used a mobile station equipped with two AI-DCUs to collect objects displayed on TenergySoft research team’s virtual test driving road with eight cameras and demonstrated object recognition.

The research teams plan to conduct periodic public demonstrations not only for the second public demonstration this year but also throughout the research period, and will carry out verification linked with the demonstration complex and data center to be established in the Gwangju AI-centered industrial convergence direct complex in the future.
