The 9th Dobong Deung (燈) Exhibition Held at Banghakcheon
Exhibition "Dalbit Jeongwon, Banghakcheon" from Jeongbyeongwon to Geumgang Amium Park Town Section to be Held from November 19 to November 28
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The 9th Dobong Lantern Exhibition, a representative festival of Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin), will be held under the theme ‘Moonlight Garden, Banghakcheon’ from November 19 to November 28 along the Banghakcheon area between Jeongbyeongwon and Geumgang Amium Park Town.
In this exhibition, the district plans to present to residents a display combining traditional lanterns with modern media art, and to propose a new festival format considering the COVID-19 situation by adopting a ‘walking thru’ method that naturally allows visitors to keep distance.
Additionally, safety management personnel and hand sanitizers will be placed throughout the exhibition area, and periodic disinfection will be conducted.
The exhibition features various themed lanterns such as characters, animals, pungmulnori (traditional Korean folk music and dance), and photo zones, along with various forms of light art including LED sculptures and projection mapping.
This year’s ‘2021 9th Lantern Exhibition’ is held sequentially at two locations frequently visited by local residents, Uicheon and Banghakcheon. From October 29 to November 7, the lantern exhibition was first held under the theme ‘Art Appearing at Sunset, Uicheon’ along the section from Uigyo to Ssanghangyo bridges.
Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, “As the weather has become very cold, please be sure to wear masks when visiting the lantern exhibition to prevent COVID-19 and colds. We will prepare various spectacular sights and attractions so that the lantern festival will continue to be loved by local residents next year as well.”
