'ESG for a Coexistent City Seoul' Seoul City to Hold Social Contribution Forum on the 23rd
Sharing ESG Management Cases of LG Electronics, KT, and Public Enterprises Divided into Three Areas: Win-Win Cooperation, Corporations, and Public Sector
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 22nd that it will hold an online forum on the 23rd to explore public-private cooperation plans linked to Environment, Social Responsibility, and Governance (ESG) in line with the management environment emphasizing corporate social responsibility.
This forum aims to present public-private cooperation guidelines linked to ESG and seek ways to revitalize public-private cooperation from the perspectives of current ESG management cases and corporate practitioners in each area. Presentations will be divided into three fields: win-win cooperation, corporate perspective, and public perspective.
The first presentation will be given by Kim Min-seok, Director of the Sustainability Research Institute, who will start the discussion from the win-win cooperation perspective based on his 10 years of experience handling corporate social responsibility (CSR) at LG Electronics. Although many companies and public institutions have recently made significant efforts to apply ESG in management, it is often difficult for individual organizations to do so alone. He will present various cases to highlight the need for change in domestic companies and provide guidelines for practical application.
The second presentation will be by Chae Wook, Head of the Social Contribution Team at KT’s Sustainability Management Division, who will introduce ESG management and public-private cooperation cases from the corporate perspective and share opinions on ways to activate public-private cooperation from the viewpoint of corporate practitioners. Companies that do not prepare for environmental and social issues and risks now find it difficult to attract investment. Accordingly, KT will present key issues by sector, execution principles, and response processes it is implementing.
The final presentation will be by Lee Jin-myung, Head of the Communication Team at the Seoul Business Agency, who will propose public-private cooperation plans focusing on ESG management and cooperation cases in public enterprises. In the comprehensive discussion, participants will share opinions while considering ways to expand ESG public-private cooperation for a win-win city Seoul from the perspectives of ESG management cases in each area and corporate practitioners.
