HiteJinro Delivers Kimchi to 83 Social Welfare Institutions Nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seung-jin] HiteJinro announced on the 22nd that it will continue its "Warm Winter" kimchi sharing campaign to help neighbors in need in local communities prepare for the winter season.
This year, 15,000 kg (5kg, 3,000 boxes) of kimchi will be delivered to 83 social welfare institutions located in Seoul, Busan, Changwon, and Gwangju. On the 22nd, HiteJinro held a delivery ceremony at the Seocho-gu Senior Care Center attended by HiteJinro CEO Kim In-gyu and Seocho-gu Senior Care Center Director Na Jong-seon, and on the 23rd, delivery ceremonies will be held in Busan, Changwon, and Gwangju respectively.
HiteJinro has held sharing events every year with the hope that neighbors in local communities can spend the winter healthily and warmly. This year, the company is expanding the scale of kimchi and the number of sponsored institutions to support neighbors going through even more difficult times due to COVID-19.
The kimchi sharing campaign has involved HiteJinro employees making kimchi themselves and delivering it to households annually since 2016, but since last year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the company has purchased and supported ready-made kimchi. The ready-made kimchi was purchased from a small-scale kimchi farm located in Jinan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, adding more meaning to the sharing. This factory employs local seniors, single-parent families, and multicultural families to make the kimchi. The kimchi ingredients are also sourced directly from domestic agricultural products in Gangwon-do, Chungcheong-do, and Jeolla-do.
