Busan Gijang-gun Surpasses 700 Billion Won in 2022 Original Budget for the First Time
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Gijang-gun has prepared a 2022 main budget worth 702.1 billion KRW and submitted it to the Gijang-gun Council on the 19th.
The budget scale for Gijang-gun next year is 630.9 billion KRW for the general account and 71.2 billion KRW for the special account, an increase of 68.7 billion KRW (10.85%) compared to this year's main budget of 633.4 billion KRW, marking the first time the main budget has exceeded 700 billion KRW.
The general account revenue budget for next year reflects the largest-ever local allocation tax, adjustment grants, increased transfer income, and increased own-source tax revenue such as property tax.
The 2022 budget plan reflects financial expenditures for active response to COVID-19, expanded spending in welfare and safety sectors, and regional demand to secure future growth engines.
Previously, Gijang-gun has been promoting projects related to the county’s core initiative, the ‘Job·Rest·Place Project,’ in response to the post-COVID-19 era.
The ‘Job Project’ is a program to expand public jobs for residents who need livelihood support due to the regional economic downturn.
The project includes △urban environment maintenance by eup and myeon △coastal areas, beaches, and hiking trail maintenance △COVID-19 response △support for jobs for the elderly, disabled, and youth, thereby expanding employment safety nets according to regional and life-cycle characteristics.
The ‘Rest Project’ is a program focused on investing in creating spaces for rest and recharging to protect residents’ lives and safety from COVID-19 and fine dust.
Major projects include △operation of the integrated environmental control center △creation of fine dust blocking forests △replacement and maintenance of aging park facilities.
Through the ‘Rest Project,’ budgets will be secured for projects such as △construction of Gijang Bitmulkkum Education Happiness Town △creation of Gijang Ceramics Tourism Healing Village △development of Jeonggwan Bitmulkkum Education Happiness Town (Aqua Dream Park, Edu Park, Sports Healing Park) △creation of Jang-an Eup Healing Forest △construction of Ilgwang Bitmulkkum Education Happiness Town △creation of Cheolma Urban Agriculture Park △maintenance of Ilgwangcheon walking trail △restoration of Seobucheon ecological stream △creation of waterfront parks between Wolnae and Gori △construction of County Sports Park and World Cup Village.
The ‘Place Project’ aims to guarantee personal safety and basic living so that everyone can find their place after COVID-19.
Main contents include △distribution of masks to all residents △support for snacks at daycare centers △support for snacks for home-cared children △expansion of support for the Together Care Project △support for Sakhalin Koreans’ livelihood stability △support for multiple-child birth grants △support for out-of-school youth, preparing support measures for residents’ daily recovery and marginalized vulnerable groups.
To expand urban infrastructure, a budget for a feasibility study to attract the new KTX-Eum station (stop) was prepared, and about 30 billion KRW was invested in road construction projects in five eup and myeon areas of Gijang-gun.
Major projects include △road construction between Daebyeon and Jukseong Intersection △road expansion between Jwachon Samgeori and Dongbusan Nonghyup △urban planning road construction in Imgok-ri △coastal road construction between Dongbaek and Sinpyeong Village in Ilgwang △road expansion on Cheolma-ro (Jangjeon Village area).
