Gwangyang-si Implements COVID-19 Home Treatment Program
Gwangyang Seoul Hospital Designated as a Home Treatment Management Medical Institution
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 17th that starting in November, it will designate one local medical institution as a home treatment management medical institution and implement COVID-19 home treatment.
Currently, the public health center's COVID home treatment T/F team consists of three members, and Gwangyang Seoul Hospital has been designated as the home treatment management medical institution.
Home treatment candidates are asymptomatic or mild confirmed cases under 70 years old without hospitalization factors who agree to home treatment.
For those aged 60 or older, they must be fully vaccinated, have a caregiver capable of providing care who will co-isolate, and be able to use an app for non-face-to-face health management.
If the candidate meets conditions such as evaluation of underlying diseases, health status, and living environment with the caregiver or cohabitant, and consents, they can undergo home treatment.
Additionally, the home treatment management medical institution monitors the health of home treatment patients 24 hours a day (temperature, oxygen saturation, etc.) and supports non-face-to-face medical consultations and prescriptions by doctors when necessary.
The public health center's health management team classifies severity when a candidate occurs, requests home treatment approval from Jeollanam-do, and handles tasks such as issuing isolation notices, app installation, emergency contact preparation, and transport management in case of emergencies.
The isolation management team carries out tasks such as delivering support supplies including home treatment kits and daily necessities kits, designating and managing dedicated public officials, and checking for unauthorized departures.
Seong Jae-sun, head of the Health Administration Division, said, "When home treatment candidates occur, through close cooperation between the public health center and the home treatment management institution, we will do our best to ensure that confirmed patients safely complete home treatment and return to their daily lives in good health."
