Namwon-si to Hold 'Jit;da 2 Special Exhibition' Until Next Month
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Jeonbuk Namwon City (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 17th that it will hold a special exhibition titled "Jit;da 2" at the Namwon Daum Museum, which collects modern and contemporary records of Namwon, featuring stories of ordinary people's traditional Korean clothing, Hanbok, during the Hanbok Culture "Winter" week until the 31st of next month.
"Jit;da 2" is the second story following the Namwon Daum Museum's first half special exhibition "Memories of a Thousand Threads, Jit;da," which was praised for its vivid storytelling and context. It explores the lives of Namwon women from the Japanese colonial period to the present day, linking their daily lives with Hanbok.
This exhibition connects the lives and clothing contexts of Namwon women, aiming to examine the universality of women's culture reflected in the changes in Hanbok styles and clothing life after the Enlightenment period through the figure of the new woman who dreamed of an autonomous life even under the reality of the Japanese colonial period in the 1920s and 1930s, alongside the local lifestyle history of Namwon.
Mayor Lee Hwan-joo said, "Through this special exhibition, we hope to evoke memories of a past when Hanbok was everyday wear and pass it on to the next generation, so that 'Hanbok' becomes a culture of daily life rather than something special."
Meanwhile, the "Namwon Daum Museum" features modern and contemporary records exhibitions of Namwon and various experiential contents. It operates from Tuesday to Sunday every week and is open free of charge from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
