SK Chemical, First Inclusion in Dow Jones Sustainability Index 'DJSI Korea'
Excellent Evaluation for Portfolio Shift Focused on Eco-Friendly Materials
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK Chemicals has been listed for the first time on a globally recognized sustainability evaluation index.
On the 17th, SK Chemicals announced that it was included in the '2021 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Korea' published by the Korea Productivity Center. SK Chemicals participated in the DJSI evaluation for the first time this year to assess its level of sustainable management and measure sustainability from economic, environmental, and social perspectives. Among domestic chemical companies, SK Chemicals is the only company newly included in the DJSI Korea index this year. SK Chemicals cited various ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) enhancement activities as the reason for its inclusion in the DJSI Korea index. In particular, its efforts to shift its portfolio toward eco-friendly materials to respond to climate change and reduce carbon dioxide emissions received excellent evaluations.
DJSI is an index that evaluates the impact on the economy, environment, and society of the top 2,500 global companies by market capitalization annually, jointly managed by Dow Jones and RobecoSAM, a global sustainability management evaluation firm. The index comprehensively evaluates companies' financial information and non-financial aspects such as governance, environmental management, ethical management, and social contribution, and is composed of the DJSI World index by industry group, the DJSI Asia Pacific index, and the DJSI Korea index evaluating top domestic companies.
