Gwangyang-si, Special Crackdown on Vehicle Idling Restrictions and Emission Controls
Enforcement During the 3rd Seasonal Fine Dust Management Period (December 2021 - March 2022)
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that it will conduct intensive special emission inspections on diesel vehicles, which have a high proportion of fine dust emissions, during the 3rd fine dust seasonal management period (December 2021 to March 2022).
During the special inspection period, the city plans to simultaneously conduct idling inspections (over 2 minutes) at 45 locations such as terminals and parking lots where vehicle idling is restricted, as well as video inspections of vehicle emissions, to reduce air pollution and fuel loss caused by vehicle emissions.
Vehicles exceeding emission standards and those violating idling restrictions will receive a first warning and improvement recommendation, and from the second violation onward, fines will be imposed.
Kim Jae-hee, Director of the Environment Division, said, “To reduce fine dust, voluntary vehicle maintenance awareness and eco-friendly driving practices by citizens are essential, and we ask for your active cooperation.”
