Gwangju Seo-gu Wins 'Grand Prize' at Local Tax Research Project Presentation Contest
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 15th that it recently won the Grand Prize (Prime Minister's Award) at the 'National Local Tax Development Forum Research Project Presentation Contest' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The 'National Local Tax Development Forum Research Project Presentation Contest' is an event where research projects presented by 17 cities and provinces on improving local tax systems and convenience policies for taxpayers, excellent cases of local tax administration, and new tax source discovery plans are judged by experts and awarded.
On this day, Jeong Eui-hyung, a tax officer from the Taxation Division 1 of Seo-gu Office, who participated as a representative of Gwangju Metropolitan City, presented a research project titled 'A Study on Taxation Measures for Autonomous Vehicles' and won the Prime Minister's Award.
The research project was highly evaluated for proposing new tax sources such as a mileage tax for autonomous vehicles and improvements in acquisition tax on autonomous vehicle software.
Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu Office, said, "Winning the grand prize at this contest is the result of local tax officials' dedication and continuous efforts for the development of local taxes," and added, "We will continue to do our best in tax administration to improve financial independence, including discovering new tax sources."
