Park Suhyun, Cheong Senior Secretary: "There is No Future for Korea Without the Heartbeat of Youth"
Posting 'Stories of the President Not in the Briefing' on SNS... President Moon: "We Must Understand the New Generation to Prepare for the Future"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] "There is no future for the Republic of Korea without the heartbeat of its youth."
Park Su-hyun, Senior Secretary for Public Communication at the Blue House, said this on the 14th via social media (SNS) while sharing the 'President's Story Not in the Briefing' youth edition.
Park explained, "If our youth period was a 'time of many opportunities and hopes' where, despite hardships, one could overcome by working hard, the fundamental difference now is that it is a 'time of few opportunities."
Park said, "Perhaps this is an excuse born from the regret of not being able to provide younger generations with a larger 'scale of opportunities and hopes.' However, I earnestly hope that the youth living today will have more opportunities and be able to look forward to new paths to the future, just like our generation did."
Park added, "(President Moon) has a firm belief in the excellence of our youth and full trust in their potential and possibilities," and said, "I believe the government has come this far with the single-minded determination to actively promote what needs to be done."
Previously, on August 7, 2019, President Moon gifted all Blue House staff the book titled 90 Nyeonsaeng-i Onda (The 90s Generation is Coming). Earlier this year, he also gifted the book 90 Nyeonsaeng Gongmuwoni Watda (The 90s Generation Civil Servants Have Arrived).
Park explained, "President Moon sent these books along with the message, 'To prepare for the future, we must understand the new generation and solve their concerns,' which reveals the president’s commitment to youth policy sensitivity."
Park said, "(The Moon Jae-in administration) laid the foundation for the full-scale promotion of youth policies and I would like to evaluate it as the 'first government to institutionalize youth policies.'"
Park acknowledged, "Considering the current difficulties faced by youth, explaining the Moon Jae-in administration’s youth policies might be criticized as 'ignorant remarks,' but I want to clearly state that this writing is from the sincere belief that only by accurately organizing this can the starting point for the next government be established."
