Government to Hold 'Mid-sized Enterprise Week' Event from 16th to 19th... Discussing Corporate Innovation and Digital Transformation
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Federation of Medium-sized Enterprises (KMF) announced on the 14th that they will hold the '2021 Medium-sized Enterprises Week' event from the 16th to the 19th.
The government designates the third week of November every year as Medium-sized Enterprises Week and holds related events to boost the morale of the medium-sized enterprise sector, which plays the role of the 'backbone' of the Korean economy. This year, the event will be held under three themes for medium-sized enterprises to grow into global companies: corporate innovation, overseas market expansion, and digital transformation.
On the first day, the 16th, 22 medium-sized enterprises interested in investing in innovative technologies will cooperate with 9 public research institutes to establish research and development (R&D) strategies and pledge private investments worth 70 billion won in the 'Medium-sized-Public Research Technology Cooperation Agreement Ceremony.'
On the 17th, the '7th Medium-sized Enterprises Day' commemorative ceremony will be held. Attended by Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, Deputy Minister Park Jin-gyu of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, KMF Chairman Kang Ho-gap, and representatives of medium-sized enterprises, government awards will be presented to outstanding companies and entrepreneurs. On the same day, at the 'Global Innovative Companies Exhibition,' appreciation plaques will be awarded to 10 'Lighthouse Companies' that have achieved results such as entering new businesses and pioneering overseas markets. A virtual lecture by Professor Jason Furman of Harvard Kennedy School, former Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, will also be arranged.
On the 18th, a certificate awarding ceremony will be held for newly selected 'World-Class Products' and manufacturing companies, and an online export consultation meeting (from the 17th to the 19th) will be conducted to support export expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises and medium-sized enterprises. On the 19th, the 'Medium-sized Enterprises Digital Innovation Performance Report Meeting' will provide an opportunity to share excellent cases of digital innovation by medium-sized enterprises and collaboration cases with startups.
