Emart Launches Logitech Gaming Gear League of Legends (LOL) Edition
From the 18th, Electro Mart to Showcase High-End Gaming Gear Logitech LOL Edition
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Emart Electro Mart announced on the 14th that starting from the 18th, it will sell four types of high-end customized gaming gear?mouse, keyboard, headset, and mousepad?called the "Logitech LOL (League of Legends) Edition." LOL is a game developed and serviced by Riot Games, officially named League of Legends, commonly abbreviated as LOL.
The LOL Edition features the LOL logo on existing premium gaming gear. Emart first introduced these products in the industry at its Yeongdeungpo and Yeonsu stores on the 11th.
They will showcase the "Logitech Wireless Gaming Mouse GPRO LOL Edition" equipped with the next-generation optical HERO 25k sensor, and the "Logitech Mechanical Gaming Keyboard GPRO LOL Edition," designed for pro gamers with customizable RGB lighting supporting 16.8 million colors. Additionally, the "Logitech Wired Gaming Headset GPRO LOL Edition" and the "Logitech Gaming Mousepad G840 LOL Edition" are also prepared.
Emart stated that due to COVID-19, gaming that can be enjoyed indoors has gained popularity among the 30s and 40s age group, leading to a significant increase in sales of high-end gaming gear. From January to October this year, Emart’s gaming gear sales grew by 24.9% compared to the same period last year. Even in July, a month with many outdoor sports activities, gaming gear sales showed a high growth rate of 53.3%. This is analyzed as gaming enjoyed indoors gaining popularity regardless of the season due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
It is also notable that high-end products among gaming gear sold particularly well. The highest-selling mouse was priced at 169,000 KRW. From January to October this year alone, mice priced over 200,000 KRW sold about 94% more than last year. For keyboards, the top four best-selling items were all high-end products priced between 130,000 and 190,000 KRW. Headsets priced over 300,000 KRW saw sales increase by about 162% compared to the previous year, and mousepads priced around 140,000 KRW also saw sales rise by approximately 42.6%.
There has been a change in the age group purchasing gaming gear. In October 2019, before COVID-19, the proportion of buyers aged 30 to 40 was about 53.4% of total gaming gear purchasers, but last month this proportion rose to 63.2%.
Emart’s "Gaming Shop" is also popular. Emart first opened a gaming shop within Electro Mart at its Jukjeon store in September 2018 and has since continuously expanded, now operating experiential stores in 22 locations.
The gaming shop’s feature is that customers can try PC games directly in a space equipped with chairs, keyboards, mice, and headsets used by professional gamers. It is also set up to allow demonstrations of console games such as PS4 and Nintendo.
