210t of Military-Owned AdBlue Supported for Civilian Use
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] The military has decided to support the civilian sector with the urea solution it possesses and to send a transport aircraft to Australia for emergency airlifting.
On the 9th, Seo Wook, Minister of National Defense, stated at the National Assembly National Defense Committee plenary session regarding the domestic shortage of urea solution, "We have 210 tons in reserve, and we are prepared to support wherever the nation needs it at any time," adding, "We plan to support about 210 tons, which is roughly half of the 445 tons available to the military, on the premise of future reimbursement. The remaining 235 tons have already been distributed to the units using it."
Regarding the question from Kim Byung-joo of the Democratic Party, asking whether the Army, having received 35 liters of urea solution in August this year, holds enough to sustain about 10,000 diesel vehicles for nine months, Seo replied, "It is an amount sustainable for about eight months," and added, "We will ensure that military operations are not disrupted."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defense is expected to send an Air Force transport aircraft to Australia as early as the 10th for the emergency airlift of Australian urea solution. On the 7th, the government decided to import 20,000 liters (later increased to 27,000 liters) of Australian urea solution as part of measures to stabilize domestic supply amid China's export restrictions on urea, during the 'Foreign Economic Security Strategy Meeting' chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki.
The military is currently reviewing the use of the KC-330 transport aircraft. The KC-330 is a multipurpose aerial refueling transport aircraft operated by the Air Force, known to be capable of carrying about 47 tons of cargo. The 27,000 liters of urea solution to be imported from Australia corresponds to approximately 27 tons.
