Suncheon-si Receives Minister of Strategy and Finance Commendation for National Development Statistics Contribution
Successful Completion of Large-Scale Nationwide Statistical Survey Conducted Every 5 Years
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 8th that it was honored to be selected as an "Outstanding Institution" for the '2021 Large-scale Statistical Survey' and received the 'Institutional Commendation' from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance.
The large-scale statistical survey is one of the three major nationwide censuses conducted every five years by Statistics Korea, successfully carrying out the Population and Housing Census and the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Census last year, and the Economic Census this year.
From October last year to July this year, the city deployed about 360 survey personnel. Despite difficulties in conducting face-to-face field surveys due to the spread of COVID-19, active cooperation and voluntary participation were induced through media publicity and meetings with related organizations.
In addition, the city was highly evaluated for contributing to the development of national statistics by successfully completing the large-scale statistical survey through systematic and proactive project execution, including the selection, training, and management of survey personnel, ensuring accurate surveys and minimizing non-response businesses.
Besides the institutional commendation, five outstanding public officials and eleven survey personnel who dedicated themselves to conducting the statistical survey also achieved the honor of receiving the Minister of Strategy and Finance's Commendation.
