Chinese Defense Ministry Condemns US Report on Military Buildup: "Heads Will Be Broken and Blood Spilled Before the Steel Great Wall"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Chinese Ministry of National Defense strongly opposed the U.S. Department of Defense report that pointed out China's rapid military buildup.
Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, warned in a statement released on the 5th, "If anyone attempts or acts to interfere in China's internal affairs or harass China, they will break their heads and bleed before the steel Great Wall called the People's Liberation Army."
The phrase "break their heads and bleed before the steel Great Wall" was used by President Xi Jinping during the 100th anniversary ceremony of the Chinese Communist Party on July 1st.
Spokesperson Wu criticized the U.S. for producing annual reports on China's military and security for over 20 years, calling it "blatant hegemonic behavior." He added, "(The U.S. report) ignores facts, is full of prejudice, misrepresents China's defense policy and military strategy, and fabricates the so-called 'China military threat.'"
He also stated that the report "illegitimately criticizes China's nuclear capability development and interferes in China's internal affairs on issues such as Taiwan," expressing "strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this, and issues a stern protest to the United States."
