[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The representative festival of Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, known as the "No. 1 Festival and Tourism Spot," the "2021 Korea Chrysanthemum Festival," will welcome guests for 17 days starting with a splendid opening ceremony on the 5th.
Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 3rd that the "Korea Chrysanthemum Festival," returning after more than two years since the COVID-19 pandemic, will broadcast the opening ceremony event live online on the 5th.
This year's opening ceremony will be held with a reduced number of attendees considering the COVID-19 situation, and will be conducted both offline and online. Therefore, visitors who cannot attend the opening ceremony can watch it live through the YouTube channel "2021 Korea Chrysanthemum Festival TV."
The opening ceremony will be divided into three parts: Part 1 and Part 2 as pre-events, and Part 3 as the main event.
Starting with Part 1, a talk concert and card section performance themed "Hampyeong Chrysanthemum" will be held on the Infiorata (flower-decorated street) in the town area. In Part 2, County Governor Lee Sang-ik will parade along Hampyeongcheon Street filled with the scent of chrysanthemums and introduce photo zones.
From 6 p.m., the main Part 3 opening event will take place at the central plaza of Hampyeong Expo Park. Various attractions such as a musical drama performance themed "Coexistence of Earth and Humans," media facade, and fireworks show are prepared.
In particular, this year's Korea Chrysanthemum Festival features media art and over 600 nighttime landscape sculptures installed throughout Expo Park and the Hampyeong town area, promising visitors a feast of chrysanthemums and lights.
Additionally, online programs are prepared for visitors who cannot come to the festival site.
These include live commerce where you can purchase Hampyeong’s agricultural and specialty products, and programs to view colorful chrysanthemum sculptures via YouTube.
Moreover, various enjoyable events such as peddler recreation, specialty product auctions, and merchant food showcases have been arranged to revitalize the town area, attracting tourists' attention.
County Governor Lee Sang-ik stated, "Our county has over 23 years of experience hosting festivals from the Butterfly Festival to the Chrysanthemum Festival," and added, "Based on this experience, we will seek new paths for festivals and tourism in the 'With Corona' era."
