Geumcheon-gu Wins Grand Prize for Two Consecutive Years at Korea Urban Regeneration Industry Expo
Secured and Promoted 66.5 Billion KRW in External Funding for the 7th Term Urban Regeneration Project... Expanding Urban Regeneration Base through the 'Geumcheon-type Urban Regeneration Hope Site Project'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced on the 27th that it won the 'Public Sector' Grand Prize at the '2021 Korea Urban Regeneration Industry Expo Awards' ceremony held in Masanhaiyang New City, Changwon-si.
The 'Urban Regeneration Industry Expo Awards' is an award given by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to local governments, companies, and private organizations with outstanding performance in urban regeneration projects. Geumcheon-gu achieved the remarkable feat of winning the grand prize for two consecutive years, following last year.
Since the 7th local government term, Geumcheon-gu was highly praised for contributing to the expansion of urban regeneration by establishing the first Urban Regeneration Support Center among Seoul's autonomous districts to broaden the resident participation base.
Geumcheon-gu is actively promoting urban regeneration projects to improve the residential environment of aging low-rise residential areas and revitalize the local economy. Through competitions held by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Seoul City, it is promoting ▲ Geumha Village Urban Regeneration New Deal Project ▲ Doksan-dong Usijang Area Urban Regeneration New Deal Project ▲ Doksan 2-dong Seoul-type Urban Regeneration Project ▲ Siheung 5-dong Byeoljanggil Alley Regeneration Project ▲ Hill Area Mobility Improvement Project, and the external budget secured during the 7th local government term reached 66.5 billion KRW.
Additionally, starting this year, as a preparatory stage to lay the foundation for urban regeneration projects, Geumcheon-gu is implementing the 'Geumcheon-type Urban Regeneration Hope Site Project' to build consensus on urban regeneration, strengthen resident community capabilities, and establish public-private cooperation systems.
Going forward, the district plans to actively respond to residents' and experts' opinions and policy changes regarding urban regeneration and carry out practical urban regeneration projects centered on 'resident focus' and 'environmental improvement.'
