View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi]IBK Industrial Bank announced on the 29th that it has awarded scholarships totaling 836 million KRW to 400 children of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) workers and small business owners who have been struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The bank stated that companies employing the families of the scholarship recipients also participated in sponsoring the scholarships, adding greater meaning to the spirit of sharing.
Yoon Jong-won, President of IBK Industrial Bank, said, “We hope this scholarship support will help students who are diligently pursuing their studies despite the difficulties caused by the prolonged COVID-19 situation,” and added, “We actively support the dreams and hopes of IBK scholarship students so that they can grow into future talents.”
The selected university students will continue the spirit of sharing by participating in ‘IBK Mentoring,’ a volunteer program providing academic guidance to underprivileged children.

Since establishing the IBK Happiness Sharing Foundation in 2006, IBK Industrial Bank has contributed a total of 53.5 billion KRW, sponsoring 16.8 billion KRW in scholarships and 12.5 billion KRW in medical expenses to improve the welfare of SME workers’ families. Additionally, through various social contribution activities such as establishing the first joint workplace daycare center for SMEs in the financial sector, mentoring, and financial education, the bank supports SME workers.
