According to health authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 9 p.m. on the same day, a total of 1,930 new COVID-19 positive cases were recorded nationwide. This is 2 more than the 1,928 cases recorded at the same time the previous day, and 562 more compared to 1,368 cases reported on Thursday, October 21, a week earlier.
Looking at the regions where cases were reported, 1,488 cases (77.1%) were from the Seoul metropolitan area, and 442 cases (22.9%) were from non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, Seoul reported 738 cases, Gyeonggi 618, Incheon 132, Daegu 116, Chungnam 68, Jeonbuk 56, Busan and Gyeongbuk each 42, Chungbuk 34, Gyeongnam 31, Gangwon 20, Jeonnam 13, Daejeon 8, Gwangju 5, Jeju 4, and Ulsan 3. Among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, Sejong has yet to report any confirmed cases.
Since there is still time left until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced at midnight on the 29th is expected to increase further, likely reaching around 2,100, similar to the previous day. If the number exceeds 2,000, it will mark two consecutive days with over 2,000 cases.
