View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Seoul reported a preliminary count of 641 new COVID-19 cases from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 28th, covering an 18-hour period, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government. This figure is 14 cases higher than the previous day and 188 cases more than last Thursday (the 21st). The total number of cases for the entire day on the 27th was 788.
The daily number of cases in Seoul reached a record high of 1,221 on the 24th of last month, then dropped to 298 by the 18th of this month, followed by five consecutive days from the 19th to the 23rd maintaining the 500s range. On the 24th and 25th, the number fell to the 400s due to reduced testing over the weekend, but surged back to the 700s on the 26th as the weekend effect ended.
