'Midnight' Wins Best Film Award at UK Grimfest Film Festival
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The film "Midnight" won the Grand Prize, equivalent to the Best Film Award, and a Special Mention for Best Actress (Jin Ki-joo) at the 13th British Grimmfest Film Festival.
On the 25th (local time), at the closing ceremony of Grimmfest Film Festival held via social networking services (SNS) in Manchester, UK, "Midnight" (directed by Kwon Oh-seung) was announced as the award winner.
Through a video message, Kim Hyun-woo, CEO of Peppermint & Company, said, "I once again felt the joy of making films and received great comfort," adding, "I want to share this joy with director Kwon Oh-seung and the staff who created a wonderful debut work, Jin Ki-joo who gave her all in acting, the actors, and everyone involved."
Steve Balshaw, the festival's chief programmer, commented, "It is a brilliant reinvention of the suspense genre, with an intense tension arising from the relentlessly unfolding story. The relatable protagonists and the ruthless serial killer character deliver astonishing performances, while the narrative develops in creative and unexpected ways. The protagonist's final counterattack excites the audience."

"Midnight" is an intense silent chase thriller about Kyung-mi (Jin Ki-joo), a hearing-impaired woman who witnesses a murder at midnight and becomes the new target of Do-sik (Wi Ha-joon), a two-faced serial killer, leading to a desperate struggle.
