[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine, contract-manufactured by Samsung Biologics, will be supplied domestically for the first time.
On the 27th, the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it will hold a shipment ceremony at Samsung Biologics in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon at 8:30 a.m. on the 28th, revealing the process of shipping the Moderna vaccine. The vaccines shipped from Samsung Biologics on that day are part of the 2,435,000 doses allocated for domestic supply.
The government stated on the 26th that Samsung Biologics plans to supply the initial batch (PPQ) domestically within this week.
The Moderna vaccine contract-manufactured by Samsung Biologics will be widely used for new vaccinations in the fourth quarter, second doses, and additional vaccinations (booster shots) for high-risk groups. Until now, all Moderna vaccines administered domestically were products manufactured overseas.
