Daehan Cable Achieves Integrated 'A Grade' in ESG Evaluation... "Only One in the Cable Industry"
Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS) Evaluation
"Recognition of Efforts to Strengthen ESG Management Including Establishing ESG Organizational Structure and Transparent Information Disclosure"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Daehan Cable announced on the 27th that it received an overall 'A grade' in the '2021 ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) Evaluation' conducted by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS). This is an improved result from last year's overall B+ grade, making it the only company in the cable industry to receive an A grade.
In particular, improvements in the Environment (E) and Social (S) sectors were notable, receiving A and A+ grades respectively. This represents a two-level improvement compared to last year. The Governance (G) sector rose one level from B+ to achieve an A grade. Among the 765 companies graded in 2021, 127 companies received an A or higher in the Environment sector, corresponding to the top 16%.
Daehan Cable explained that its efforts to establish an ESG organizational system, transparently disclose related information, and strengthen ESG management have borne fruit. Earlier in May, it became the first in the cable industry to establish an ESG committee under the board of directors and has been practicing sustainable management by publishing ESG reports on its website.
Additionally, it conducted a campaign pledging the implementation of a Fair Trade Compliance Program (CP) for employees and established 'Green 2030,' which concretizes environmental management.
A Daehan Cable official stated, "Since the acquisition by Hoban Group, we have continued efforts to strengthen ESG management," adding, "We will continue to contribute to creating a future eco-friendly society through sustainable value creation."
