Lee Jun-seok Visits No Tae-woo's Funeral Hall: "Cannot Overlook, but Different Evaluation from Jeon Du-hwan"
[Asia Economy Reporters Jeon Jinyoung and Park Juni] On the 27th, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, who visited the funeral hall of the late former President Roh Tae-woo, said about the deceased, "While we cannot completely cover his faults, the efforts to apologize should be evaluated differently from those of the family of former President Chun Doo-hwan."
Lee visited the funeral hall at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, at around 10:55 a.m. that day to pay his respects. After the condolence visit, he told reporters, "The family of former President Roh continuously made efforts to pay the victim surcharge, unlike the family of former President Chun. Although he was unable to express his intentions directly due to deteriorating health, his son, lawyer Roh Jae-hyun, represented the family in offering an apology, showing sincere efforts."
He continued, "There are many who cannot fully overlook his faults in South Korea, but I believe those efforts should also be evaluated differently from those of former President Chun's family. I think he left a significant milestone in modern history and I mourn him."
It was reported that he exchanged words with the bereaved family, saying, "We will cooperate as much as possible once the funeral procedures are decided."
