Suncheon-si, High-Speed Internet Launched in 20 Rural Villages
Benefits for over 1,700 people in 900 rural households including Oeseo, Nakan, and Byeollyang
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 26th that it has opened high-speed internet in 20 rural villages with poor communication networks, including Oeseo, Nagan, Byeollyang, and Juam-myeon.
Earlier this year, the city signed an agreement on the "Rural Communication Network Advancement Project" with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the telecommunications operator KT to establish GIGA-level high-speed internet access facilities at village hubs in rural areas where internet service was difficult to use.
The newly opened high-speed internet areas include a total of 20 villages: Seokdong and Bonggok in Seungju-eup, Biryong in Juam-myeon, Deokchi, Nongso, and Songgok in Oeseo-myeon, Gyochon, Seongbuk, Deokcheon, Simnae, and Undong in Nagan-myeon, Daeryeo and Jangsan in Byeollyang-myeon, Jibon, Gaewoon, Geoncheon, and Hakdong in Seo-myeon, and Yongnim 2, Geoncheon, and Deokrim in Hwangjeon-myeon. Approximately 900 households and over 1,700 residents, who had difficulty using the internet due to the high cost of facility construction, can now use the internet affordably like ordinary urban residents.
