This training was conducted sequentially at each institution to prevent COVID-19 infection, aiming to contribute to the spread of a safety culture by fostering safety awareness in daily life and enhancing the ability to respond initially to accidents and prevent safety incidents.
The main content included fire safety education focusing on "So-So-Sim" (small, small, careful) to cultivate proper fire safety awareness among growing youths and strengthen the safety capabilities of Korea 119 Youth Corps members, operating fire safety experience booths [fire occurrence virtual reality (VR), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)], and holding a letter-writing event to express gratitude to firefighters.
Jo Jong-hoon, Director of the 119 Disaster Response Division, said, “We will strive to establish a proper fire safety culture among growing youths by conducting fire safety education centered on actual experience rather than theory-based education.”
Meanwhile, the Korea 119 Youth Corps Northern Branch currently consists of 98 members across four locations (Seoyoung University, Elementary School Affiliated with the University of Education, Munhwa Elementary School, and Gwangju Aeyukwon).
