The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases increased by 1,266 from the previous day to 354,355. The sources of infection for the new cases were 1,246 local transmissions and 20 imported cases.
Among the locally transmitted cases, 74.1%, or 923 cases, were reported in the Seoul metropolitan area. Specifically, 421 cases in Seoul, 428 in Gyeonggi, and 74 in Incheon were confirmed.
Non-metropolitan cases totaled 323. By region, the confirmed cases were ▲Busan 33 ▲Daegu 61 ▲Gwangju 5 ▲Daejeon 13 ▲Ulsan 9 ▲Sejong 6 ▲Gangwon 24 ▲Chungbuk 32 ▲Chungnam 40 ▲Jeonbuk 41 ▲Jeonnam 6 ▲Gyeongbuk 20 ▲Gyeongnam 27 ▲Jeju 6.
There were 20 imported cases. Eight were detected during quarantine, and 12 were confirmed in the community. Seven were Korean nationals, and 13 were foreigners.

Meanwhile, as of midnight, 77,434 people received new COVID-19 vaccinations. The cumulative number of first-dose vaccinations reached 40,847,884. The vaccination rate is 79.5% of the total population and 91.9% of the population aged 18 and over. The number of fully vaccinated individuals increased by 427,919 from the previous day to 36,424,121. The second-dose vaccination rate is 70.9% of the total population and 82.5% of those aged 18 and over.
