Following Introduction of Reusable Dispensers and Label-Free Bottled Water, Taking Action Against Climate Crisis
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Lotte Hotel announced on the 25th that it has signed a 'Business Agreement to Promote Carbon Neutral Lifestyle Practices' with the Ministry of Environment.
The agreement ceremony held in the afternoon at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was attended by Kim Hyun-sik, CEO of Lotte Hotel, Han Jeong-ae, Minister of Environment, and representatives from nine companies in distribution, manufacturing, telecommunications, and other sectors that signed the agreement.
This agreement ceremony was organized to build consensus on 'carbon reduction actions' that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to participate in achieving '2050 Carbon Neutrality.'
Lotte Hotel signed the carbon neutral lifestyle practice business agreement as a representative of the hotel industry and plans to implement education and promotion of guidelines to reduce carbon footprints, environmental improvements, and infrastructure development going forward.
Kim Hyun-sik, CEO of Lotte Hotel, said, "I am honored to participate in carbon neutral practices to overcome the climate crisis, the greatest problem facing the world. As a hotel representing the Republic of Korea, we consider this a duty and will lead efforts to respond to the climate change crisis, from small daily practices by all employees to eco-friendly activities with customers."

Meanwhile, Lotte Hotel declared 2023 as the inaugural year of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management in June. At L7 Hotel and Lotte City Hotel, single-use amenities have been replaced with large-capacity reusable dispensers, and free bottled water provided in guest rooms has been switched to label-free products, actively reducing plastic waste.
