Seogwipo Coast Guard Conducts 'Coastal Waters Risk Survey' Until the 29th
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Seogwipo Coast Guard Station (Chief Hwang Junhyun) announced on the same day that it will conduct a "Coastal Area Risk Survey" until the 29th to establish a systematic safety management system, including identifying hazardous areas and safety management facilities.
Since the 11th, Seogwipo Coast Guard has conducted self-inspections at its substations, carrying out risk assessments and surveys of safety facilities through on-site investigations, and the Marine Safety Division will also conduct a full on-site survey.
Coastal accidents refer to incidents causing harm to human life at uninhabited islands, rocky shores, breakwaters, piers, and coastal experience activity operation facilities.
This year, coastal accidents in the jurisdiction of Seogwipo Coast Guard included 9 cases of isolation and falls on rocky shores, 4 vehicle fall accidents, and 10 cases of missing divers.
Seogwipo Coast Guard classifies hazardous areas by risk level into zones with fatal accidents, frequent coastal accident zones, and coastal accident risk zones, designating 61 locations to establish effective safety management standards, objectively evaluate risks, and focus on managing safety facilities.
As vehicle falls and slips at harbors and breakwaters continue to occur, the status of installation and demand for safety management facilities such as vehicle stoppers and lifesaving boxes are also being identified and notified to related agencies to reinforce and expand safety management facilities.
A Seogwipo Coast Guard official said, "We will continuously inspect the safety management status of coastal accident risk areas with related agencies, identify areas for improvement and supplementation, and establish a safety management system," adding, "We will do our best to create a coastal environment where the public can safely engage in activities."
