"Carbon Reduction in Daily Life" LG Uplus Signs Carbon Neutrality Agreement with Ministry of Environment
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 25th that it has signed a "Business Agreement for the Expansion of Carbon Neutral Lifestyle Practices" in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and 19 companies and institutions.
The business agreement ceremony held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was attended by Han Jeong-ae, Minister of Environment, Hwang Hyun-sik, President of LG Uplus, Lee Eun-hee, Executive Director of the Korea Climate and Environment Network, and representatives from 19 companies and institutions.
This business agreement involved companies and institutions from nine sectors including finance, transportation, education, tourism, information technology, household, distribution, manufacturing, and telecommunications to provide information on carbon neutral lifestyle practices at the point of contact with the public and to encourage implementation. LG Uplus was the only domestic mobile carrier among the three major telecom companies to participate in the agreement. The participating companies and institutions will conduct nationwide campaigns for carbon neutral lifestyle practices and promote customized carbon neutral education for environmental improvement. Through this agreement, the Ministry of Environment plans to support companies and institutions to smoothly carry out carbon neutral lifestyle practice activities.
LG Uplus plans to inform the public about carbon neutral lifestyle guidelines through customer bills and online events on its application, conduct public interest activities for recycling packaging materials and containers, and hold events for public participation. Additionally, it will promote carbon neutral activities such as pledges for carbon neutral practices and reducing disposable products within the company among its employees.
Hwang Hyun-sik, President of LG Uplus, said, "Awareness of the importance of carbon neutrality is increasing in the era of climate crisis," adding, "We will strive to form and spread social consensus on carbon reduction actions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions."
