Coca-Cola Unveils World's First 'Contour Label-Free' in Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Coca-Cola announced on the 25th that it will launch the world's first label-free PET product with contour bottle design, 'Coca-Cola Contour Labelfree,' in Korea. Developed in collaboration with the global headquarters, this product was introduced first in Korea among all Coca-Cola products worldwide, in line with Korean consumers' high interest in eco-friendliness.
The 'Coca-Cola Contour Labelfree' features the unique contour bottle shape that allows anyone to recognize the brand by its form alone, even without a label. The product lineup consists of two types: Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero.
The Coca-Cola contour bottle, first developed in 1915, was patented for its convex curved shape inspired by the cocoa pod and the flowing vertical lines on its surface. It was created under the condition that "even in the dark, by touch alone or by looking at broken bottle pieces, one should be able to identify it as Coca-Cola," to make a differentiated bottle difficult to imitate at the time.

Accordingly, the 'Coca-Cola Contour Labelfree' PET product allows consumers to experience the Coca-Cola brand identity through its shape alone. Additionally, the logo and vertical line designs are embossed on the front of the product to enhance readability and sophistication. Furthermore, by removing the label, the amount of plastic used during production is reduced, and the inconvenience of having to remove labels separately after drinking is eliminated, improving consumers' convenience in separating and disposing of the bottle.
