Forest Service Holds Main Event of Wood Culture Festival Online
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Forest Service announced on the 23rd that the main event of the ‘2021 Mokjae Culture Festival’ will be held non-face-to-face.
The festival will be conducted through three programs under the theme ‘Wood Utilization = Carbon Neutrality’: the Wood Sound Story Show, the Musical Mokhon Ceremony, and the Hanmok brand online live sales.
Among these, the Wood Sound Story Show and the Mokhon Ceremony will be broadcast live on the Korea Forest Service’s YouTube channel starting at 11 a.m. on the day.
The Wood Sound Story Show will be hosted by MBC announcer Kang Da-som, featuring comedian Lee Sang-jun and Korea Forest Service’s Wood Industry Division manager Ha Kyung-soo, who will communicate in real-time with the public about ‘Wood Utilization = Carbon Neutrality.’
There will also be a session to dispel misunderstandings and prejudices about domestic wood through stories about wood in everyday life.
The Mokhon Ceremony will be presented in a musical format telling the stories of 10 couples married for five years, stimulating viewers’ interest and enjoyment. The Mokhon Ceremony is a custom originating from the West, where couples exchange wooden gifts on their fifth wedding anniversary.
Previously, the Korea Forest Service received stories from 107 couples nationwide, selected 10 stories after screening, and will stage their stories as a musical. Additionally, couples will exchange wooden rings they made themselves and participate in a non-face-to-face event making children’s toys.
Furthermore, the Korea Forest Service will hold an event selling four types of domestic wooden household items made by winners of an idea contest for discovering wooden products to replace plastic, through an online live broadcast at the lowest prices.
Meanwhile, the Korea Forest Service will also hold an in-person event of the Mokjae Culture Festival at the ‘I LOVE WOOD’ theme pavilion inside COEX, Seoul, on the same day. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience and purchase at discounted prices various household items made from domestic wood, furniture, and new wooden plastic products at the venue.
