Russian Court Orders Ban on Sales of 61 Samsung Smartphone Models
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Local foreign media reported on the 21st (local time) that a Russian court has banned the sale of 61 models of Samsung Electronics smartphones in Russia.
According to the report, the Moscow Arbitration Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff in a patent infringement lawsuit filed against Samsung Electronics' local subsidiary in Russia last July, and subsequently issued this order as a follow-up measure.
As a result of this order, 61 models of Samsung Electronics smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold2, and Galaxy S21, are prohibited from being supplied or sold in Russia.
The Moscow Arbitration Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by Swiss company Squin SA, claiming that the technology used in Samsung Pay installed on Samsung Electronics smartphones infringed on its patents.
