Daejeon Expands Priority Signal System for Emergency Vehicles
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon Fire Headquarters announced that starting from the 22nd, the priority signal system for emergency vehicles will be expanded and applied from the current 2 sections to 5 sections.
The priority signal system is a system introduced in August last year that automatically controls the traffic signals at intersections during disaster site dispatches, allowing emergency vehicles such as fire trucks and ambulances to pass through intersections without stopping.
Currently, the fire stations utilizing this system are Daedeok Fire Station and Seobu Fire Station, applied to 2 sections.
As a result of operating the priority signal system in these sections, the rate of fire trucks arriving at fire sites within 7 minutes improved by 9.25% at Daedeok Fire Station and 3.12% at Seobu Fire Station compared to the previous year, and the arrival time at fire sites was shortened by 35 seconds and 39 seconds respectively.
Accordingly, the Daejeon Fire Headquarters plans to expand and apply the priority signal system to 3 additional sections (19 signals) from today: Dongbu Fire Station to Daejongno Intersection, Dunsan Fire Station to Sung-eori Saem Intersection, and Yuseong Fire Station to Doryong Samgeori, facilitating the movement of emergency vehicles.
