[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] As of 6 p.m. on the 21st, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases nationwide was in the early 1,200s.
According to the quarantine authorities and local governments including Seoul City, from midnight to 6 p.m. on that day, a total of 1,215 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded nationwide.
This is 141 more than the 1,074 cases recorded at the same time the previous day, and 102 fewer than the 1,317 cases reported a week earlier on the 14th.
Looking at the regions where confirmed cases were reported that day, 982 cases (80.8%) were in the metropolitan area, and 233 cases (19.2%) were in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, Seoul had 453 cases, Gyeonggi 421, Incheon 108, Gyeongbuk 43, Chungbuk 41, Busan 38, Chungnam 25, Daegu 20, Gyeongnam 18, Gangwon 17, Jeonbuk 11, Jeonnam and Jeju 6 each, Gwangju and Daejeon 3 each, and Ulsan 2.

The daily number of confirmed cases has remained in the four digits for 107 consecutive days since July 7 (1,211 cases). Looking at the new confirmed cases reported over the past week from the 15th to that day, the daily numbers were 1,683 → 1,617 → 1,420 → 1,050 → 1,073 → 1,571 → 1,441, with a daily average of about 1,408 cases.
