Yeosu Coast Guard, Nuriho Launch Maritime Control
Navigation and fishing prohibited within 3 hours before Nuriho launch near coastal waters
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] Jeonnam Yeosu Maritime Police Agency announced on the 21st that "24 patrol vessels, including guard ships, have been deployed near the Naro Space Center in preparation for the launch of the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho, carrying out maritime control and safety management duties."
According to Yeosu Maritime Police, regarding the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho scheduled to launch at 4 p.m. that day, all vessel navigation and fishing activities will be strictly prohibited within the maritime control zone near the Naro Space Center in Bongrae-myeon, Goheung-gun, Jeonnam, starting three hours before the launch.
The maritime control zone is established to ensure the safety of lives and vessels in case of abnormal flight or similar emergencies of the launch vehicle. It covers the sea area with a radius of 3 km from the launch pad at the Naro Space Center and the flight path, spanning 24 km in width and 78 km in length.
The Maritime Police oversee vessel control, navigation notifications, and safe navigation guidance for vessels passing through the area related to the Nuriho launch, as well as maritime safety including the movement of residents on inhabited islands within the control zone. To prepare for emergencies, 24 vessels from the Navy and related agencies are responsible for maritime control and safety management.
A Yeosu Maritime Police official stated, "We are performing our duties meticulously to ensure the successful first launch of the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho," and added, "We ask nearby residents and maritime workers to actively cooperate with the maritime control."
