[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on the 21st that it has signed a contract with Nawah Energy, the UAE nuclear power plant operator, for the planned and preventive maintenance project of Unit 1 at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction signed a long-term maintenance contract in 2019 with Nawah Energy for all four units (Units 1 to 4) of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will inspect major equipment in the reactor system, including turbines and generators, at the currently operating Barakah Unit 1 from April to June next year.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction explained that once all four units of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant enter commercial operation, regular maintenance will be conducted on each unit, with planned and preventive maintenance expected to be carried out two to three times annually.
