LG Electronics "Taste 'Red Ale' with the Handmade Beer Maker LG HomeBrew"
[Asia Economy Reporter Su-yeon Woo] LG Electronics is expanding the variety of beers that can be enjoyed by adding 'Red Ale' to the LG HomeBrew exclusive capsules for its handcrafted beer maker.
LG Electronics announced on the 21st that since launching the world's first capsule-type handcrafted beer maker LG HomeBrew in 2019, it has offered five types of beer capsules: ▲Pale Ale ▲India Pale Ale (IPA) ▲Stout ▲Wheat ▲Pilsner, and now introduces 'Red Ale' as a new option.
Amid the growing trend of home drinking, LG Electronics developed the Red Ale capsule reflecting customer preferences. Among customers who purchased LG HomeBrew exclusive capsules up to last month this year, nearly half chose ale varieties. Red Ale is an Irish-style beer characterized by less bitterness than regular ale, a reddish hue, subtle caramel aroma, and a nutty savory taste. The capsule's retail price is 39,900 KRW.

LG Electronics is also holding a special event for existing HomeBrew users. From the 25th until the end of this month, HomeBrew users who enter the event via the home appliance management application 'LG ThinQ app' will be entered into a draw to receive a limited edition special package including a Red Ale exclusive glass and capsules.
LG Electronics has conducted various research to address the pain points of HomeBrew users. By continuously improving the beer brewing algorithm, including fermentation temperature and time, the brewing period for ale varieties has been shortened from an average of 14 days to 10 days. LG Electronics plans to provide a HomeBrew software update applying the new beer brewing algorithm through the LG ThinQ app in the future.
LG HomeBrew is a handcrafted beer maker that automates the complex and difficult beer brewing process from fermentation to maturation and storage by simply adding water and capsule-type beer ingredient packages. It allows users to easily make their own premium beer at home.
LG Electronics jointly developed capsule-type beer ingredient packages containing premium ingredients with Muntons, a UK malt manufacturer with a 100-year tradition. The capsule package consists of three capsules: wort pack, the main ingredient of beer; yeast to aid fermentation; and hop oil and flavor capsules that add aroma to the beer.
LG Electronics has integrated its unique home appliance technologies into this product, including ▲inverter technology that adjusts compressor operation according to conditions ▲automatic control of temperature and pressure needed for fermentation, maturation, and storage ▲hot water sterilization cleaning system that cleans and sterilizes the paths through which beer and water pass inside the product before and after brewing.
