Gochang-gun Adds 2 More 'Disabled Call Taxis'

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun (Governor Yu Gisang) announced on the 20th that it will add two more disabled call taxis from late this month to improve mobility convenience and welfare for transportation-vulnerable people.

Previously, the county started operating one transportation support vehicle for the transportation-vulnerable (disabled call taxi) in 2014, and through continuous increases, it will operate a total of eight transportation support vehicles for the transportation-vulnerable.

The fare is 700 KRW as the base fare for every 2 km, with an additional 100 KRW per 1 km within the zone (Jeongeup, Gochang), and 100 KRW per 700 m outside the zone.

On weekdays, eight vehicles operate (from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.), and on holidays, one vehicle operates (from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

The eligible users are those with severe disabilities, including those with walking disabilities and wheelchair users, and usage is possible by applying for membership at the county transportation-vulnerable mobility support center.

A county official said, “We have completely resolved the inconvenience of wheelchair users who find it difficult to use public transportation and have no alternative transportation other than special transportation means,” adding, “We will continue to collect opinions from transportation-vulnerable people to improve operations and enhance service quality.”
