"Cross-Vaccinated Individuals Allowed Entry to the US for COVID-19 Vaccination"
CDC "Only Cross-Vaccination with FDA and WHO Approved Vaccines Recognized"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] With the full entry of foreigners who have completed COVID-19 vaccination into the United States becoming possible from the 8th of next month, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced plans to allow entry for those who have received mixed COVID-19 vaccines.
According to the Washington Post (WP) on the 17th (local time), the CDC stated on the 15th that it will allow entry for people who have received mixed vaccinations of vaccines authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the World Health Organization (WHO).
A CDC spokesperson explained, "The CDC does not recommend mixed vaccinations, but in other countries, mixed vaccinations are common."
They added, "People who have received two doses of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use by the FDA or WHO will be recognized as fully vaccinated."
Accordingly, those who have completed mixed vaccinations of the relevant vaccines and passed two weeks afterward are expected to be allowed entry without separate self-quarantine measures.
On the same day, the White House also announced that from the 8th of next month, entry restrictions will be completely lifted for foreign travelers who have completed vaccination.
Under this policy, travelers entering from overseas are expected to be required to present proof of vaccination completion before boarding the plane.
