Hwasun-gun Begins Purchase of 5,803 Tons of 2021 Publicly Stockpiled Rice

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) is starting the purchase of public reserve rice according to the 2021 public reserve rice purchase plan.

On the 18th, the county announced that the purchase volume is 5,803 tons, consisting of 4,170 tons of bagged rice and 1,633 tons of paddy rice, which is 388 tons more than last year.

Paddy rice will be purchased from the 14th of this month until the 30th of next month at Dogok Nonghyup Rice Center, Geumho Rice RPC, Neungju Nonghyup DSC, and Dongbok Nonghyup DSC.

Bagged rice (dried rice) is planned to be purchased starting from the 1st of next month.

The purchased varieties are two types: Sindongjin and Saechungmu, and the purchase price will be based on the nationwide average farm-gate rice price during the harvest season (October to December), converted from 80kg of polished rice to 40kg of brown rice.

An interim settlement payment of 30,000 KRW will be paid immediately after purchase, and the final settlement payment will be made by the end of the year after the purchase price is confirmed.

A county official stated, “With the introduction of the variety verification system, if varieties other than the purchased ones are shipped, they will be excluded from purchase for five years, so care must be taken not to ship them. We have also established COVID-19 related public reserve rice purchase inspection site response guidelines to ensure smooth public reserve rice purchases.”
