Gwangju City Council Closes the 302nd Extraordinary Session... 95 Agenda Items Processed
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Council (Chairman Kim Yongjip) has concluded its 14-day session.
On the 18th, the Gwangju Metropolitan Council held the 5th plenary session of the 302nd extraordinary meeting and announced that it had passed ordinances, consents, and other matters.
During this extraordinary meeting, a total of 95 agenda items were handled, including 29 ordinances, 52 consents, and 14 reports.
Additionally, eight council members held in-depth administrative questions regarding current issues of Gwangju City and the Office of Education over four days from the 5th to the 13th.
The agenda items processed by each standing committee included ▲ five items such as the ‘Gwangju Metropolitan City Basic Ordinance on Village Communities’ by the Administrative and Autonomy Committee ▲ seven items such as the ‘Gwangju Metropolitan City Ordinance on Social Settlement Support for Probationers’ by the Environment and Welfare Committee ▲ five items such as the ‘Gwangju Metropolitan City Ordinance on Supporting the Revitalization of Alleyway Commercial Districts’ by the Industry and Construction Committee ▲ and twelve items such as the ‘Gwangju Metropolitan City Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of Traditional Martial Arts’ by the Education and Culture Committee.
Along with this, 52 consent items including the ‘2021 6th Extraordinary Shared Property Management Plan’ were reviewed, and 14 report items including the ‘Report on the Private Consignment Operation of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall Daycare Center’ were processed.
Furthermore, the personnel hearing report for the candidate for president of the Kim Daejung Convention Center was adopted.
On this day, Councilor Im Miran made a 5-minute free speech on the topic ‘Gwangju City Must Now Declare the With-Corona Era!’, Councilor Kim Ikju on ‘Gwangju and Jeonnam Administrative Integration’, and Councilor Kim Nayoon on ‘Free Meal Food Costs Should Reflect Realistic Prices’, followed by an urgent current issue question by Councilor Kim Jeomgi on ‘The Boundary Adjustment Between Autonomous Districts Must Be Completed’.
Chairman Kim Yongjip said, “I ask the executive branch to thoroughly review and supplement the points raised and alternatives suggested by the council members through administrative questions,” and added, “With the step-by-step return to daily life under ‘With-Corona’ scheduled for early November, I ask Gwangju City to take proactive measures for the citizens who have sacrificed for the great cause of overcoming COVID-19.”
