Namwon Sarang Gift Certificates, Significant Impact on Revitalizing the Local Economy
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City in Jeonbuk has issued 55 billion won worth of paper-type Namwon Sarang Gift Certificates to revitalize the local economy and increase sales for small business owners amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. It is expected to sell out faster than planned due to strong public response.
According to the city on the 15th, the increase in local currency usage is attributed to a 10% discount due to COVID-19, along with securing over 3,600 affiliated stores and various payment methods including paper, mobile, and card types, making it easier for citizens and shops to use.
Out of the 55 billion won worth of paper-type gift certificates issued this year, 53.3 billion won has been sold at a 10% discount, with 1.7 billion won remaining.
The city plans to end the discount sales for paper gift certificates once sold out, while continuing the 10% discount sales for card and mobile gift certificates until the end of December.
Among the 68 sales agencies, paper-type gift certificates can currently be purchased at 22 sales agency banks excluding 46 locations.
The sales agencies where purchases are possible include Jeonbuk Bank, Jirisan Nonghyup, Chunhyanggol Nonghyup, Livestock Cooperative, Namwon Post Office, Dongnamwon Saemaeul Geumgo, Unbong Saemaeul Geumgo, and Jirisan Saemaeul Geumgo.
Card and mobile gift certificates can be easily purchased through a dedicated app by anyone aged 19 or older regardless of their place of residence.
Those who have difficulty accessing online services can also receive free issuance by visiting sales agency banks.
The issuance of card-type Namwon Sarang Gift Certificates has expanded from Nonghyup Bank to include the Post Office, Saemaeul Geumgo, and Credit Unions, allowing users to check benefits such as point accumulation by card company and choose their preferred card company and card accordingly.
The Namwon Sarang Gift Certificate has become a stable system used by almost all citizens, playing a key role in recovering the domestic economy and revitalizing the local economy by preventing the outflow of local funds.
