"Don't Speak While Giving Ramen..." 60-Year-Old Man Sexually Assaults 10-Year-Old Boy in Hospital
Victimized Child: "(Every time the crime happened) I was given ramen and told not to speak"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Park] A man in his 60s suffering from a mental illness has been reported to have sexually assaulted a 10-year-old boy who was hospitalized in the same hospital.
According to a YTN report on the 15th, Mr. A, a man in his 60s who was hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital, is accused of taking 10-year-old boy B, who was admitted to the same ward, to the bathroom and sexually assaulting him. The police have booked Mr. A on charges of violating the Special Act on Sexual Violence and have launched an investigation.
Mr. A denies the charges, but the hospital confirmed through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage that Mr. A was seen taking the victim child to the bathroom.
A hospital official stated, "(In the footage, B) is seen going in together with that person. He went in, came out after about 3 minutes, then went back in and came out after about 2 to 3 minutes."
This was revealed while boy B, who was admitted in early July for treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), was having a consultation with a social worker.
B’s father said, "I was contacted by the hospital saying my son told the social worker during the consultation that he had a bad experience with the grandfather," adding, "I felt resentment toward the whole world."
According to the report, B said this was not the first time, and that Mr. A tried to silence him by giving him ramen every time he took him to the bathroom.
B said, "(The bathroom) is on the 6th floor, the second one. Yes, he hurt me. Here on my buttocks and kissed me," and added, "It happened often. He told me not to tell anyone. And right after we came out, he gave me ramen. He kissed me here."
